Abstract
[The European Green Deal](https://commission.europa.eu/strategy-and-policy/priorities-2019-2024/european-green-deal_en) is the EU's growth strategy for climate neutrality by 2050, and its investment pillar set out to mobilise at least EUR 1 trillion of sustainable investment over the decade. Most of that has to be raised in capital markets, and green bonds carry the load: Europe issued about USD 256 billion of green bonds in 2025, roughly 55% of the global total
