Abstract
DamlForge is an 8-week proof-of-concept to determine whether a safe, Pythonic contract-authoring language for Canton can be designed. The grant funds a minimal transpiler (Pythonic source → readable DAML source → standard DAML compiler), semantic experiments across five key design areas (composability, authorization, SCU upgrading, contract keys, and interfaces), and at least two structured community review sessions with Digital Asset. The outcome is either a credible, community-reviewed design and scoped follow-up proposal, or documented findings explaining why the approach is not viable — both are first-class deliverables that advance ecosystem knowledge.
