Abstract
Canton developers, wallets, and application operators currently cannot determine what a transaction will do, who will receive which part of it, what it will cost, or why it was rejected before signing or submitting — the longest-standing unmet need in the Foundation's own Q1/Q2 DevRel surveys. This proposal funds cantonsim, an open-source pre-submission analysis tool built on Canton's PrepareSubmission flow that delivers a structured transaction preview, a pre-flight prerequisite check, and a local scenario sandbox, shipped as a DPM component, a TypeScript library wallets can embed for pre-sign previews, a CI mode, and a local web UI. It gives every Canton team a trustworthy, privacy-preserving way to catch failures and understand transaction effects before anything is signed, directly closing the ecosystem's top-rated tooling gap.
