Understand the grant lifecycle
The Canton Development Fund allocates 5% of network emissions to fund ecosystem work. Grants follow a transparent, on-chain-adjacent lifecycle ratified via GitVote.
Submit a proposal
Community members open a PR against the grants board with a detailed proposal covering scope, milestones, and funding ask.
SIG review
A Special Interest Group reviews the proposal, requests revisions, and — once satisfied — assigns a champion organisation that co-signs accountability.
GitVote ratification
Ready proposals go to an on-chain GitVote ballot. The approval threshold and ballot duration are defined in the live GitVote config.
Milestone disbursement
Approved grants are paid out per milestone. Each disbursement is triggered by a delivered-and-accepted milestone review on the board.
